Your donation is a gift to Chashmeh

When you donate, you make a gift to Chashmeh and tell us where you would like it to go: one charity, several charities, a cause, or wherever it is needed most. We follow your preference.

Chashmeh keeps the legal discretion to direct a gift elsewhere if your chosen charity can no longer receive it, for example if it pauses, closes, or no longer passes our checks.

If a charity stops receiving donations

We email monthly donors and offer other charities. If you do not choose within 30 days, future payments go to other active charities in the same cause, shared equally.

Money already held for that charity is sent to other charities in the same cause in the next weekly transfer.

When money is sent

Donations received before midnight Sunday (Sydney time) are included in that Monday’s transfers. A charity’s transfer goes out once its held balance reaches the minimum transfer amount; smaller amounts roll over to the next week.

Cause and general donations are shared equally among eligible active charities at each weekly transfer. The rule is published and versioned.

Fees

The card or direct debit fee charged by our payment provider is taken from the donation, unless you choose to add it on top. The remittance provider’s fee is taken from each weekly transfer. Every fee is shown in the public ledger.

Chashmeh currently keeps no platform fee. If that changes we will say so here and on every receipt beforehand.

Monthly donations

You can pause or stop a monthly donation at any time from your account or from the link in any receipt. Changes apply from the next payment.

Refunds

If you made a mistake, contact us within 30 days. If the money has not been sent yet we refund it from your donation. If it has already been sent, Chashmeh covers the refund from its own funds; it is never taken from other donors’ money.

Tax

Unless your receipt says otherwise, donations are not tax-deductible.

What we publish

Every donation appears in the public ledger with its date, amount, fees, reference and destination. Your name, email and payment details are never published.
